Providence, R.I.-Sophomore guard CJ Donaldson (Bridgeport, CT) scored a team-best 12 points with four rebounds and three assists as the Rhode Island College men's basketball fell to Keene State, 79-58, in a Little East Conference contest played at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

• RIC junior center Grant Gillis (Jamestown, RI) scored 11 points and added six rebounds and three assists.

• Senior guard Malcolm Smith (Old Orchard Beach, ME) was also in double figures with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for RIC.

• Junior forward Justin Campbell (New Haven, CT) narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the loss for the Anchormen.

• Junior forward Ty Nichols (Springfield, MA) led the way for Keene State with a game-high 23 points, three rebounds and two assists.

• Freshman center James Anozie (Poughkeepsie, NY) scored 15 points with nine rebounds, while freshman guard Miguel Prieto (Providence, RI) registered 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the win for the Owls.

• The two teams battled back and forth early before Keene State started to pull away and took its first double-figure lead when a three-pointer from Nichols made the score 22-10 with 7:51 left in the first half.

• Keene State took the 34-22 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

• The visiting Owls built on their lead throughout the second half and built their largest lead of the game, 58-28, on a layup by freshman guard DeVon Beasley (Andover, MA)with 13:17 remaining in the contest. Keene State then cruised to the 79-58 victory.



• RIC shot 36.4 percent (24-of-66) from the field, 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from the three-point line and 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from the free throw line.

• Keene State shot 54.8 percent (34-of-62) from the field, 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from the three-point line and 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from the free throw line.

•  RIC outrebounded Keene State by a 42-37 margin.



• In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference play at Southern Maine on Wednesday, Jan. 10 (7:30 p.m.).
