North Dartmouth, Mass.-The Rhode Island College men's cross country team opened the 2017 campaign with a 35th place (40 teams) finish at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
• The Anchormen finished with 1,024 points, while UMass Lowell took home the team title with 82 points on the afternoon.
• There were a total of 40 teams and 315 runners competing at the event.

• "Our men show tremendous effort. We are an extremely young team with only one competitor out of our top five as a returner. All of the other men had their first experience racing five miles. All in all, it was a great team effort and we look to improve weekly."

• The Anchormen averaged 32:46.00 per runner over the 8K course that ran through the UMass Dartmouth campus.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Gordon to participate in the 2017 Pop Crowell Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23 (11:30 a.m.).
