Manzo Notches First Career Top-10 Finish at Pop Crowell Invitational

Wenham, Mass.--Rhode Island College sophomore Raffaelo Manzo (Slatersville, RI) picked up his first career top-10 finish as he placed ninth (28:07.9) to lead the Anchormen to a seventh place finish at the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon College on Saturday.

THE BASICS
• RIC finished in seventh place with 191.0 points, while the University of New England took first place with 25.0 points.

• There were 17 teams and 140 runners competing at the event.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior Kody Sankey (Cumberland, RI) notched a 29th place finish (29:09.20), while freshman Matthew Russom (Port Kent, NY) picked up a 43rd place finish (29:56.3).

• Senior Jeff Garson (Cumberland, RI) finished in 48th place (30:15.80). Junior Mohammed Chaghlil (Warwick, RI) placed 76th with a time of (32:04.70).

•Junior Dylan Brobisky (West Warwick, RI) rounded out the runners for the Anchormen, finishing in 98th place (33:37.30).

BY THE NUMBERS
• The Anchormen averaged (29:54) per runner over the 8K course (4.97 miles).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Westfield State's James Earley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6 (11:15 a.m.).
