Jessica Spurr begins her second season as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Rhode Island College.
She led the Anchorwomen to a 1-11 record in 2018, her first season at RIC.
Spurr was a two-sport standout in women’s lacrosse and women’s basketball as an undergraduate at Rhode Island College.
In women’s lacrosse, Spurr appeared in 39 games, starting 29 of them, from 2007-09. As a defender, she tallied four goals and two assists for six points during her three-year career.
She also played two years as a forward on the women’s basketball squad from 2004-06. She played 27 games, starting two of them. Spurr averaged 1.3 points per contest.
Spurr recently served as the head girl’s lacrosse coach at Cumberland High School for the past two years. She also was an assistant coach with the UMass Dartmouth women’s basketball team for the last three seasons, helping the Corsairs reach the Elite Eight in 2017.
A 2004 graduate from Pilgrim High School in Warwick, Spurr earned a bachelor’s degree in health/physical education from Rhode Island College in 2009. She is currently a physical education in the Woonsocket School Department.
Spurr resides in West Warwick, Rhode Island with her husband Andrew.
