  • NICK COPPOLA WINS TWICE AS ANCHORMEN FALL TO BANTAMS AND BEARS

    Freshman 197 lbs. Nicholas Coppola (Wantagh, NY) picked up a pair of victories as the Rhode Island College wrestling team dropped a pair of New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) contests at the Recreation Center on Friday evening. RIC fell to Trinity, 33-15, and dropped a 23-21 decision against Bridgewater State. In the opening match of the evening, Bridgewater State posted a 21-19 win over Trinity.

    Freshman Nicholas Coppola (Wantagh, NY) went 3-0 and was named to the All-NEWA Tournament Team to lead the Rhode Island College wrestling team to a 14th place finish at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Headlock For Hunger Dual Meet Championship, hosted by Johnson & Wales at the Providence Career & Technical Academy on Sunday. The Anchormen posted a 1-3 record at the tournament.

    Freshman 165 lbs. Nick Gould (North Attleboro, MA) picked up a pair of victories, which included a pin in a 33-21 win over Penn Tech, to lead the Rhode Island College wrestling team at the North/South Duals hosted by Ursinus on Saturday.

    Junior Zach Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) picked up the lone win for the Rhode Island College wrestling team as they dropped a 44-2 decision at Western New England University on Friday evening.

    Freshman Nick Coppola (Wantagh, NY), freshman Brandon Nunez (Rockaway, NY) and junior Zach Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) each picked up two wins on the day as the Rhode Island College wrestling team notched a 17th place finish at the Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

    Freshman Ricky Brown (North Kingstown, RI) went 3-2 at 285 lbs. while junior Zach Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) posted a 3-2 mark at 174 lbs., to lead the Rhode Island College wrestling team to a 15th place finish at the season-opening Ithaca Bomber Invitational at the Providence Career & Technical Academy this weekend.
