Freshman Shayna Cousineau (Cranston, RI) was named the women’s cross country team’s MVP. Cousineau was named the Little East Conference Runner and Rookie of the Year, the first student-athlete in conference history to earn both awards in the same season. She wrapped up the year with a 67th place finish (22:49.00) at the N.E. Div. III Championship on Nov. 11. She captured the Little East Conference Individual Championship with a first place finish (19:19.70) among a field of 72 runners at the LEC Championship on Oct. 28. She finished in third place (25:47.00) at the Western New England Invitational on Oct. 14 and placed 20th at the James Earley Invitational (19:30.87) on Oct. 7. She notched a fifth place finish (19:26.70) at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Sept. 23 and opened her collegiate career with a 26th place finish at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational (19:17.99; season-best) on Sept. 16. She was named the Little East Runner of the Week once and the Rookie of the Week twice on the season.
