Margaret McCaffrey Leads Women's Cross Country to 33rd Place Finish at N.E. Regional Championship

Brunswick, Maine--Rhode Island College senior Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) posted a 73rd place finish (23:29.37) to lead the women's cross country team to a 33rd place finish (57 teams) at the 2018 NCAA N.E. Div. III Championship, hosted by Bowdoin on Saturday.

THE BASICS
• Rhode Island College finished in 33rd place with 975 points, while MIT took home the team title with 87 points on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sophomore Shayna Cousineau (Cranston, RI) notched a 108th place finish (24:02.55).

• Freshman Madisen Martin (Marion, MA) took 232nd place (25:47.90), while senior Laura Paiva (Coventry, RI) finished in 257th place (26:19.81).

• Junior Bryana Mullin (Warwick, RI) finished 317th (27:33.92). Freshman Paula Slinko (Coventry, RI) rounded out the RIC runners, placing 396th (39:27.20)

BY THE NUMBERS
• There were 399 runners in the race, which covered six kilometers (3.73 miles).
