Len Silva was a standout second baseman and shortstop at RIC from 1984-87. The Seekonk, Massachusetts native played in 101 career games, totaling 130 hits, a .362 career batting average, 95 runs scored, 55 RBI, 20 doubles, five triples and 10 home runs. Silva is the college’s all-time leader with 64 stolen bases. He earned All-New England honors as a junior in 1986. As a senior in 1987, he played in 24 games, totaling 25 runs scored, 43 hits, a .457 batting average, nine doubles, one triple, 12 RBI and 15 stolen bases.
As a junior in 1986, Silva played in 30 games, totaling 32 runs scored, 40 hits, .354 batting average, seven doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 19 RBI and 24 stolen bases.
As a sophomore in 1985, he played in 25 games, totaling 23 runs scored, 35 hits, .380 batting average, three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 17 RBI and 21 stolen bases.
As a freshman in 1984, Silva played in 22 games, totaling 15 runs scored, 12 hits, a .200 batting average, one double, seven RBI and four stolen bases.
He was named to RIC’s All-75th Anniversary Baseball Team in 2005, which included the top 19 players in the history of RIC baseball.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from Rhode Island College in 1987.
Silva is currently the Vice President and Regional Business Banking Officer for Citizens Bank, a company he has been with for over 12 years. He is also the President of the Seekonk Little League.
He resides in Seekonk, Massachusetts with his wife Susanne ’89 and their children: Jacob (15) and Joshua (11).
