Meg A. (Funk) Fournier ’10 was an outstanding sutdent-athlete in women’s tennis during her career at Rhode Island College from 2005-08. RIC won three Little East Regular Season Championships and one league tournament title over the course of her career. 

The Oakdale, Conn. native closed out her four-year career with a 45-15 (.750) in singles and a 51-16 (.761) doubles for 70.5 career points. At the conclusion of her career, she was tied for the all-time program record in career doubles wins, while ranking third in both singles victories and points.

As a senior in 2008, she was named Second Team All-Little East Conference at No. 1 singles. She was 10-4 (.714) at No. 1 singles and 8-7 (.533) at No. 1 doubles for 14.0 points on the season. Funk was named the team’s MVP and the Little East Player of the Week once. She led the team in points, while tying for the top spot in both singles and doubles victories.

As a junior in 2007, Funk was the Little East Conference Champion at No. 1 doubles along with Sasha Doonan Rodriguez. She was 10-6 (.625) at No. 1 singles and 14-3 (.824) at No. 1 doubles for 17.0 points on the season. Funk was tied for the team lead in doubles wins, tied for fourth on the team in singles wins and tied for third in points. She was named the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week once.

As a sophomore in 2006, she was the Little East Conference Champion at number one doubles. She was 12-4 (.750) at number one singles and 15-4 (.789) at number one doubles for 19.5 points on the season. Funk was tied for second on the club in singles and doubles wins, as well as points.

As a freshman in 2005, Funk was the Little East Conference Champion at number three singles and number two doubles. She was 13-1 (.929) in singles and 14-2 (.875) in doubles for 20.0 points on the season. Funk was tied for the team lead in singles victories, was second in total points and tied for third in doubles wins. She was named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week once on the season.

Funk was a 2005 graduate of Montville High School.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in special education from Rhode Island College in 2010.
