MEN'S TENNIS SETS PROGRAM RECORD FOR WINS IN A SEASON WITH, 9-0, VICTORY OVER SUFFOLK

North Reading, Mass.—The Rhode Island College men's tennis team established a school record for wins in a season as they notched their 12th victory of the 2018 campaign with a 9-0 decision at Suffolk on Thursday evening. It was the seventh shutout win of the year for the Anchormen.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE

• RIC jumped out to the early 3-0 lead after a sweep of the doubles matches.

• Freshman Cam Chadwick (Narragansett, RI) and junior Chandler Scott (Ashaway, RI) gave RIC the first win of the day with an 8-1 win over Suffolk junior Rami Esrawi (Braintree, MA) and sophomore Kevin Greenman (Dunellen, NJ).

• Senior Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI) and freshman Alex Bourque (North Smithfield, RI) increased the Anchormen's lead to 2-0 after an 8-2 win over sophomore Mike DeFelice (Brandford, CT) and junior Chris Parnagian (Cranston, RI) at the No. 1 doubles spot.

• Freshman Ethan Hoy (West Warwick, RI) and junior Matthew Gambardella (West Warwick, RI) finished the sweep of doubles matches for RIC with an 8-4 win over SU junior Charles Tang (Hong Kong, China) and freshman David Grujic (Revere, MA).

• Gambardella made it 4-0 for RIC with a (6-1, 6-0) win over Greenman at No. 4 singles.

• Bourque then clinched the match for the Anchormen with their fifth point of the day, a (6-1, 6-1) victory against Esrawi at the third singles spot.

• Hoy posted a (6-2, 6-2) win over Tang at No. 5 singles, while junior Alan Esposito (Clinton, CT) defeated Grujic (6-1, 6-2) at the sixth singles spot to stake the Anchormen to the 7-0 advantage.

• Taggart registered a (6-1, 6-4) win against Parnagian at No. 2 singles and Chadwick finished off the perfect 9-0 victory with a (6-1, 4-6, 10-8) win over DeFelice at No. 1 singles.

• In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East action at Salem State on Saturday, April 28 (1 p.m.)
