Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.—Freshman Sean Caltagirone (York, ME) finished seventh at 157 lbs., while senior Zach Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) took eighth at 165 lbs., as the Rhode Island College wrestling team competed at the Citrus Invitational on Sunday and Monday, Dec. 29-30.
THE BASICS
• RIC finished 13th (14 team) with a team score of 29.5. Augsburg won the invite with a team score of 192.0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Caltagirone went 4-2 with a pin and a technical fall at 157 lbs. to finish seventh. He totaled 12.0 points for the team.
• Ford went 3-1 with three decisions at 165 lbs. before having to medically withdraw and finished eighth. He totaled 5.0 points.
• Sophomore 285 lbs. Travis Manick (Methuen, MA) went 3-3 with a pin and a major decision for 5.0 points.
• Senior 133 lbs. Francisco Roman (Parlin, NJ) went 2-3 with a pin for 5.5 points.
• Junior 197 lbs. David Sblendorio (Mountainside, NJ) went 1-1 before having to medically withdraw.
