Three Players Tally Four Goals as Women's Lacrosse Down UMass Dartmouth, 13-4

Dartmouth, Mass.--Sophomore midfielder Giana Ritchie (Cumberland, RI), freshman midfielder Olivia Carpenito (Wilmington, MA) and sophomore midfielder Madison McKenna (Cumberland, RI) each had four goals as the Rhode Island College women's lacrosse posted an impressive, 13-4, victory at UMass Dartmouth in a Little East Conference contest on Wednesday evening.

The win for RIC snapped a 29-game LEC losing streak that dates back to a an 18-6 win over UMass Dartmouth on April 23, 2014.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC freshman midfielder Morgan Pero (White River Junction, VT) scored one goal and added an assist in the victory for the Anchorwomen.

• Junior attack Sam Muir (Sturbridge, MA) paced UMass Dartmouth with two goals, while freshman midfielder Isabella Mancini (Bellingham, MA) notched a goal and an assist in the setback for the Corsairs.

• Senior goalkeeper Julia Eaton (Cumberland, RI) had 13 saves in the victory for RIC.

• Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Burchill (Bridgewater, MA) notched 14 stops in the loss for UMD.

• RIC scored first on an unassisted tally from McKenna just 1:04 into the contest.

• The Anchorwomen continued to carry play in the first half and took a 5-2 advantage on a goal from Carpenito with 17:21 left in the stanza. That goal would would prove to be the game-winner for RIC.

• Muir notched a pair of goals late in the first half to cut the visitor's lead down to one, 5-4.

• RIC took the 6-4 lead heading into halftime after outshooting the Corsairs by a slight, 13-12, margin.

• The Anchorwomen dominated play in the second half as they outscored UMD by a 7-0 margin, which included three goals from Ritchie, en route to the 13-4 victory.

• RIC had a 32-22 advantage in shots and a 43-34 advantage in ground balls, while UMass Dartmouth held a 10-9 advantage in draw controls.

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Eastern Connecticut in a Little East Conference contest on Tuesday, April 23 (6:30 p.m.).
