Providence, R.I.—Three Anchormen have secured All-Region honors after the first day of competition at the 2020 NCAA Div. III Northeast Region Championships, hosted by Rhode Island College at the Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS
• RIC is currently tied for 13th place (17 teams) with a team score of 27.0.
• Johnson & Wales is currently in first place (84.50), followed by New York University (83.0) and Springfield (67.50).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen had three wrestler advance to the second day of competition, thus securing a spot in the top eight of their respective weight class and earn All-Region honors.
• Freshman 141 lbs. Nathan Lackman (Wernersville, PA) went 2-0 with a technical fall win and a sudden victory to reach the semifinals. Lackman can finish no lower than sixth in his bracket.
• Junior 197 lbs. Daniel Sblendorio (Mountainside, NJ) went 2-1 with a pair of pins on the day.
• Senior 165 lbs. Zach Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) returned to the mat after a long layoff to go 2-1 with a pin.

"Obviously I am proud of the guys who fought through to make All-Region today. We still have some work to do tomorrow in hopes of qualifying our guys for the National Championships. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our dedicated seniors in Sam Lindblom (Waterford, CT) and Franky Roman (Parlin, NJ), who wrestled in their final collegiate matches today."
