Middlebury, Vt.—Junior Chelsea Yang (Warwick, RI) claimed the N.E. title in the weight throw as the Rhode Island College women's indoor track and field team competed at the 2020 New England Div. III Championship, hosted by Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS
• RIC finished 12th (26 teams) with a team score of 21.0. Williams took home the championship with a team score of 159.0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Yang earned All-New England honors with a first place finish in the weight throw (18.51m) to win the individual title. It is her second N.E. title in that event (2018).
• Graduate Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in the weight throw with a fifth place (15.90m) finish. She also placed 10th in the shot (11.51m).
• Sophomore Trinity Hayes (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in both the 200m (26.08) with a sixth place finish and an eighth place finish in the 400m (58.44).
• Sophomore Georgerinna Farley (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in the weight throw with a sixth place finish (15.86m).
• Senior Jamie Dobson (Bradford, RI) placed 14th in the weight throw (13.43m).
• Junior Melissa Mejia (Providence, RI) placed 21st in the weight throw (12.34m).
• Freshman Ashleigh Wryostek (Seekonk, MA) finished 21st in the shot (10.31m).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Tufts National Qualifier meet on Saturday, March 7.
