New London, Conn.--Junior Chelsea Yang (Warwick, RI) won the weight throw (19.03m) as the Rhode Island College women's track and field team competed at the Coast Guard Winter Invitational on Friday afternoon.
THE BASICS
• The Anchorwomen finished third (five teams) with a team score of 105.0. Coast Guard won the meet with a team score of 182.0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Yang also placed sixth in the shot (10.28m).
• Sophomore Trinity Hayes (Providence, RI) took home first in the 200m (26.33) and second in the 55m (7.54).
• Senior Chevell Burgess (Providence, RI) placed first in the triple jump (10.33m), third in the long jump (4.69m) and sixth in the 55m hurdles (9.81).
• Graduate Funmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI) placed second in the weight throw (16.37m), fourth in the shot (11.01m).
• Freshman Imari Riebe (Randolph, MA) placed second in the triple jump (10.20m) and 14th in the long jump (4.19m).
• Freshman Ashleigh Wyrostek (Seekonk, MA) placed second in the shot (11.69m).
• Junior Bryana Mullin (Warwick, RI) placed second in the 600m (1:42.48).
• Sophomore Georgerinna Farley (Providence, RI) placed fourth in the weight throw (14.62m).
• Freshman Katheryn Biliouris (West Warwick, RI) placed fourth in the 400m (1:04.69) and fifth in the long jump (4.64m).
• Junior Melissa Mejia (Providence, RI) placed fifth in the weight throw (14.12m).
• Senior Jamie Dobson (Bradford, RI) placed sixth in the weight throw (13.61m).
• Freshman Venecia Mills (Providence, RI) placed eighth in the weight throw (12.88m).
• Freshman Taleah Gandy (Stoughton, MA) placed eighth in the 200m (29.10).
• Freshman Julia Kershaw (North Kingstown, RI) placed 12th in the 200m (30.29) and ninth in the triple jump (8.92m).
• Freshman Agi Binta Joof (North Providence, RI) placed 13th in the 200m (30.50).
