Medford, Mass.—Sophomore Trinity Hayes (Providence, RI) won the 400m, while graduate Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI) broke the program record in the shot, as the Rhode Island College women's indoor track & field team sent three competitors to the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS
• It was an individual meet with no team scoring.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Hayes finished first in the 400m (58.55) and sixth in the 200m (26.39).
• Yusuff, who was competing in the final indoor meet of her career, finished third in both the shot (11.99m) and the weight throw (16.18m).
• Junior Chelsea Yang (Warwick, RI) finished first in the weight throw (19.24m). Yang, the New England and Little East Champion in that event, will make her third straight appearance at the NCAA Div. III Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championship next week.
• Yang is a two-time All-American in the weight throw, is ranked No. 1 in the nation and has the farthest throw in the country this season.
