Box Score Myrtle Beach, S.C.--Senior first baseman Amber Wainwright (Taunton, MA) went 2-for-4 and knocked in two runs as the Rhode Island College softball team opened the 2020 campaign with a 6-2 setback vs. Albertus Magnus on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Albertus Magnus jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, plating three unearned runs.
• AMC senior designated player Lauren Anderson (East Haven, CT) knocked in an additional run with an RBI double in the third.
• Sophomore first baseman Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, CT) put the AMC up, 5-0, with an RBI single in the fifth. Freshman second baseman Janelle Franklin (Middletown, CT) knocked in the final run for the visitors with an RBI single in the seventh.
• Wainwright knocked in RIC's only two runs with a double in the bottom of the seventh.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC junior pitcher Riley Kernan (Middletown, NJ) took the loss (0-1), allowing two earned runs on nine hits in seven innings of work. She struck out eight on the day.
• Albertus Magnus sophomore pitcher Erin Dighello (Wallingford, CT) earned the win (1-0), allowing two runs on six hits to go along with six strikeouts in seven innings. Geloso went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
