Gorham, Maine--Junior 157 lbs. Nathan Lackman (Wernersville, Pa.) and freshman Fred Luchs (Belford, N.J.) each went 2-0 as the Rhode Island College wrestling team dropped a pair of New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) contests at a tri-match hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen were without five starters on the day, as freshman 133 lbs. Hunter Lundberg (Putnam Valley, N.Y.), freshman 141 lbs. Cosmo Stoia (Mystic Beach, N.Y.), junior 184 lbs. Jett Tancsik (Centereach, N.Y.) and senior 285 lbs. Travis Manick (Methuen, Mass.) were among the key grapplers who did not make the trip.
 
• Luchs earned a pin to open the match with the Spartans, but Castleton won the next three matches to build a 16-6 lead. Lackman, who is ranked No. 7 in the nation and No. 1 in the Northeast Region, pinned his opponent at 157 lbs. to pull the Anchormen within four points, 16-12.
 
• Castleton won the remaining five bouts to pick up the win.
 
• Luchs secured his second win by fall on the day to open the USM match. The Huskies rattled off four straight until Lackman bumped up to 165 lbs. to earn a technical fall victory. The hosts took the final four matches to earn the win.
