Tyler Shemick (Foster, R.I.) each threw complete games as the Rhode Island College baseball team swept a pair of games vs. Castleton, 19-2 (seven innings) and 14-2 (seven innings) in Little East action played at Pontarelli Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• The Anchormen offense wasted no time getting runs on the board as junior right fielder
Nick D'Ambra (Coventry, R.I.) launched a two-run shot over the right field fence to give RIC a 2-0 advantage in the first frame.

• The RIC bats kept the pressure on in the second stanza as freshman shortstop I
zaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) hit a leadoff homer that snuck just inside the right field foul pole to put the Anchormen up by three, 3-0.

• D'Ambra sent his second homer of the day over the fence in the second inning to give the hosts a 5-0 cushion.

• RIC pushed across six runs on seven hits in the third inning, which was highlighted by a freshman first basemen
Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) RBI triple into the gap in right center.

• The fourth frame was a lot more of the same for the Anchormen as they were able to knock in six more on five hits to take a commanding, 17-2, lead.

• Castleton scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning, powered by a leadoff home run by sophomore second basemen
Reece De Castro (Rutland, Vt.).

• Davey finished the game allowing two runs on six hits and striking out six batters to secure his fourth win (4-2) of the year.

GAME TWO
• The Anchormen did not miss a stride as the offense continued to roll to begin game two as freshman center fielder
Cam Santerre (Bristol, R.I.) hit a leadoff triple to right center and scored on a freshman left fielder
Jarrad Grossguth's (Coventry, R.I.) single to right field.

• Senior second basemen
Nate Vigeant (Coventry, R.I.) drove in a run on a single up the middle as part of a four-run first frame by the Anchormen.

• Santerre led the second inning off with another triple, this time down the right field line into the corner and came around to score on a throwing error by the Spartans.

• The Anchormen led, 7-0, after two innings.

• The third inning was much of the same for the Anchormen as the hosts pushed five runners across the plate. Senior second baseman
Nate Vigeant (Coventry, R.I.) drilled a three-run homer to right center, which extended RIC's lead to 10, 11-1.

• RIC pushed two runs across in the fourth frame with an RBI double by D'Ambra and an error by Castleton.

• Shemick was masterful on the mound, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and striking out four in seven innings, to pick up his fourth (4-1) win.

BY THE NUMBERS
• Santerre went 7-for-10 on the day with seven runs scored, two triples, one double and one RBI.

• Vigeant went 5-for-8 with a pair of runs scored, one home run and six RBI.

• Castleton was led by DeCastro, as he went 5-for-7 with a pair of runs scored, one home run, one double and two RBI.

• RIC registered 40 hits and scored 33 runs on the day. The Anchormen have won seven straight, the last four of which have seen RIC score at least 10 runs in each contest.
