HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One:
• Both defenses came ready to play as both the Corsairs and Anchorwomen combined for a total of five hits and one run through the first four innings.

• UMD scored the game's first run in the home half of the third inning on a senior shortstop
Leah Major (Fair Haven, Mass.) RBI single with two runners aboard.

• RIC evened the score in the seventh inning on a freshman center fielder
Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) RBI ground out that brought in freshman pinch runner
Tatiana Burcy (Boston, Mass.).

• The Anchorwomen took the lead, 2-1, in the next at-bat when sophomore left fielder
Julie Vincent (Norwich, Conn.) smacked an RBI single and then increased their lead on a freshman designated player
Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) RBI double that scored Vincent from second to make it 3-1 RIC heading into the bottom of the seventh.

• UMD saw its first two batters in the bottom of the seventh record singles and then drew a walk to load the bases. The Corsairs scored on a wild pitch to pull within a run.

• Major hit a sacrifice fly to center field that brought in the tying run and the host's walked off with the win on a throwing error on the same play.

• RIC freshman pitcher
Caitlin Lopez (Cranston, R.I.) suffered the loss (3-5).

• UMD senior pitcher
Jill Richards (Kingston, Mass.) earned the win throwing 5.1 innings, allowing four hits and no runs.

Game Two:
• The Anchorwomen struck first in the opening frame as sophomore right fielder
Faith Turinese Plainville, Mass.) singled, found her way to third on a steal and then scored on a senior first basemen
Amber Wainwright (Taunton, Mass.) double for an early 1-0 lead.

• UMD took the lead, 2-1, in the home half of the fourth as Richards knocked in senior
Kylie Fletcher (Dighton, Mass.), who had tripled to get into scoring position, and then a throwing error allowed the go-ahead run to score later in the frame.

• RIC was unable to muster any offense in the top of the seventh, which left the door open for UMD for a second comeback win.

• A fielding error allowed the first batter for the Corsairs, sophomore left fielder
Lynsie Miracle (Richland, Wash.), to reach base safely and advance to second, as the potential game-winning run.

• Miracle was able to swipe third successfully. Freshman pitcher
Kaitlyn Shirshac (Enfield, Conn.) came up clutch for the Corsairs with a single to win the game for the hosts.

• Turinese threw 1.2 innings and took the loss (0-4). Burcy threw 4.2 innings
