Mansfield, Conn.--Senior third baseman Ray Zincone (West Warwick, R.I.) finished the twinbill going 3-for-7 with a double and two RBI as Rhode Island College dropped a pair of games (5-0, 12-2) at Eastern Connecticut in Little East baseball action played at Eastern Stadium on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One:
• The hosts, who are ranked No. 3 in New England, scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning as senior designated hitter Jack Rich (Meriden, Conn.) brought one across with an RBI groundout and senior third baseman Luke Broadhurst (Stafford, Conn.) scored on a RIC error.
 
• Rich picked up another RBI with a groundout in the third to put Eastern up by three, 3-0.
 
• Senior left fielder John Mesagno (Tappan, N.Y.) ripped a two-run double in the fourth to give the hosts all they would need to secure the win.
 
• ECSU senior starter Josh Vincent (New London, Conn.) picked up the win (4-0), allowing four hits and striking out seven in 7.2 innings of work.
 
• RIC sophomore starter Connor Davey (Cheshire, Conn.) took the loss (2-2).
 
Game Two:
• The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as freshman center fielder Jason Claiborn (Prospect, Conn.) led off with a single and later scored on a RIC error.
 
• Broadhurst drilled a two-run homer and senior designated hitter Drew Alexopoulos (Hanson, Mass.) smacked a solo shot in the third to put the hosts up, 4-0.
 
• Broadhurst hit is second longball (2) of the day in the fifth.
 
• Junior catcher Matt Malcolm (East Lyme, Conn.) clouted a three-run blast (3) in the seventh.
 
• Zincone doubled in two runs in the eighth to get RIC on the board in an 8-2 ballgame.
 
• The Warriors ended the game early with four runs in the home half of the eighth as Mesagno, Alexopoulos and Malcolm all had RBI singles.
 
• Sophomore starter Billy Oldham (Brookfield, Conn.) picked up the win (3-0), allowing just five hits and striking out six in seven innings of work. RIC senior starter Tyler Shemick (Foster, R.I.) suffered the loss (2-1).
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• Junior right fielder Nick D'Ambra (Coventry, R.I.) went 3-for-6 with a run scored.
 
• Claiborn went 5-for-9 with four runs scored and a double. Broadhurst went 3-for-7 with five runs scored, two homers and three RBI. Malcolm went 2-for-6 with a run scored, a homer and four RBI.
