Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.) won her first career match at No. 1 singles as the Rhode Island College women's tennis team rolled past Suffolk, 9-0, at the RIC Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Vittori paired with junior
Clara Siegmund (Pomfret, Conn.) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. She then defeated Suffolk senior
Ilda Ascic (Sarajevo, Bosnia), 6-4, 6-2, for her first career win at the top spot. Vittori had previously lost to Ascic at No. 2 singles back in the 2018 campaign.

Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.) had a strong day for the hosts, earning a straight set (6-1, 6-0) win at No. 4 singles and combining with freshman
Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) for an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles.
• Junior
Sarah Gonick (Kingston, Mass.) clinched the win with a straight set (6-1, 6-1) victory at No. 5 singles.
• RIC was without its No. 1 singles starter in junior
Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.).
