Eric Zane (Quaker Hill, Conn.) each took home first place finishes as the Rhode Island College wrestling team opened the 2022-23 season at the Veterans All-American Class held at the Providence Career and Technical Academy on Saturday.
THE BASICS
It was an individual meet with no team scoring.
Sever of RIC's top wrestlers did not compete at the meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Alfonso went 3-0 with three pins to finish first at 285 lbs.
• Zane went 4-0 with a pin and a technical fall to finish first at 157 lbs.
• Redner went 3-0 with a pin to finish first at 133 lbs.
• Freshmen
Christian Paredes (East Moriches, N.Y.) and
Robert Stone (Deer Park, N.Y.) finished second at 149 lbs. and 125 lbs., respectively.
• Sophomore
Michael Pestana (North Bergen, N.J.) went 2-1 with a pair of pins to place third at 141 lbs.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Springfield's Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 19.
