HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC mashed for six runs over the first two innings, with freshman catcher Lucas Pierce (Chepachet, R.I.) smacking a bases-clearing double in the first inning.

• Clark scored its only run in the top of the second when graduate first baseman Trevor Ham (North Andover, Mass.) cranked a first-pitch fastball into the woods behind the left field fence, which cut the RIC lead down to two, 3-1.

• The Anchormen ran the basepaths and capitalized on some errors from Clark to manufacture three more runs in the second inning.

• RIC plated five in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach and win its home opener.

• Pierce was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

• Sophomore second baseman Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) was a triple shy of the cycle, finishing the day with a 3-for-5 effort. He notched a double, one homer, three runs scored and three RBI.

• Ham had the only run and RBI with his solo shot in the second and was 1-for-3 with a walk.

• Davey went eight full innings, striking out four batters and allowing just one earned run to pick up his first win (1-1) on the year.

• Clark sophomore pitcher Andres Hulfachor (Nashua N.H.) took the loss (1-1).
