Kulacz and Kross Each Score Three in, 13-7, Setback vs. UMass Dartmouth

Providence, R.I.--Senior midfielder Natalie Kulacz (Cumberland, R.I.) and sophomore attacker Maddie Kross (Peachtree City, GA) each netted three goals as the Rhode Island College women's lacrosse team fell vs. UMass Dartmouth, 13-7, in Little East action played at Alumni Field on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kulacz scored the first three goals of the game and senior midfielder Olivia Carpenito (Wilmington, Mass.) netted one of her own as the hosts built a 4-0 advantage over the Corsairs after 30 minutes.
 
• UMD didn't stay quiet for long, scoring eight unanswered goals in the third quarter, with a bevy of the coming from sophomore attacker Mellany Sanchez-Alvarez (Stamford, Conn.), as the visitors led by three, 8-5, with one stanza remaining.
 
• Kross would notch all of her goals in the second half, but RIC would get no closer four goals over the final five minutes of the final quarter.
 
• Kulacz and Kross each registered hat tricks, with Kulacz scooping up six ground balls and causing one turnover.
 
• Sanchez-Alvarez notched seven goals and two assists for nine points. She also posted a game-high 10 draw controls to go along with four caused turnovers and two ground balls.
 
• Junior goalkeeper Shannon O'Connell (Narragansett, R.I.) made six saves in the loss (0-6).
 
• UMD junior goalie Payton Conceicao (New Bedford, Mass.) earned the win (2-11) with 13 saves.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC led in shots (28-24) and ground balls (28-24). UMD led in draw controls (16-8).
