Andrew Sears (West Warwick, R.I.) struck out nine and allowed just one run as Rhode Island College took game one, 2-1, of a Little East baseball doubleheader vs. No. 2-ranked Eastern Connecticut at Eastern Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• Sears was masterful in the opener against one of the best teams in the nation. He allowed just one run on seven hits and struck out nine in a complete game effort to secure his seventh (7-1) win of the year.
• The Anchormen evened the game, 1-1, in the fourth when senior third baseman
Jarrad Grossguth (Coventry, R.I.) brought in sophomore second baseman
Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) with an RBI double.
• Grossguth came in with what proved to be the game-winning run on sophomore designated hitter
Justin Wardwell's (Westport, Mass.) sacrifice fly.
GAME TWO
• The Anchormen trailed, 5-0, in the fifth until freshman first baseman
Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) knocked in one with an RBI single.
• The Warriors ripped off eight runs in the home half of the frame to put the game out of reach.
• Sophomore catcher
Alex Martinez (Cranston, R.I.) had a two-run double in the sixth to end the visitor's offensive output in the nightcap.
• Eastern senior starter
Bryan Albee (Killingly, Conn.) earned the win (9-0).
• RIC sophomore starter
Terry Murray (Norfolk, Mass.) was the losing pitcher (4-2).
BY THE NUMBERS

Cameron Santerre (Bristol, R.I.) went 4-for-8 with a pair of stolen bases.
