Joey Coro (North Providence, R.I.) smacked three home runs as the Rhode Island College baseball team swept Castleton (18-1, 11-1) in Little East action played at Pontarelli Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• After surrendering a run on an error in the top of the first inning, the hosts plated six runs in the home half of the frame. Sophomore right fielder
Sean Helfrich (Saunderstown, R.I.) dealt the big blow with a grand slam.

• The Anchormen scored at least one run in each of the ensuing five frames to end the game in seven via the 10-run rule.

• Sophomore lefty
Andrew Sears (West Warwick, R.I.) allowed just one unearned run on four hits, while striking out nine, to pick up his fifth win (5-1).

• Senior leftfielder
Joey Coro (North Providence, R.I.) went 2-for-3 with four runs scored, four RBI, one double, a homer and a walk.

• Castleton senior
Zach Marlow (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) took the loss (1-3) for the Spartans.

GAME TWO
• Senior third baseman
Jarrad Grossguth (Coventry, R.I.) got the Anchormen on the board with an RBI double in the first. Coro followed him with a towering blast into the left field trees, which staked the hosts to a 3-0 advantage.

• Helfrich would hit his second homer of the day in the second inning and Coro would hit his third in the third frame. RIC led, 7-0, after Coro's homer.

• With the game firmly in RIC's grasp in the bottom of the eighth inning, freshman first baseman
Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) hit a home run into deep right field, which pushed the Anchormen's lead to 11-1 and ending the game early via the 10-run rule.

• Junior pitcher
Connor Davey (Cheshire, Conn.) notched his third win of the year (3-2) with a  six-inning, six-strikeout performance.

• Castleton junior pitcher
Riley Orr (Queensbury, N.Y.) picked up the loss (1-5).

• Coro followed up his stellar game one performance with an even better game two, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, four RBI and two home runs.
