HOW IT HAPPENED
• The two LEC foes went back and forth through the whole first half, with RIC taking the lead, 16-15, with 8:46 left to go in opening frame.
Â
• The buckets sparked an 8-0 run by the Anchormen, with three different student-athletes all scoring, to elevate the lead to seven, 22-15.
Â
• UMB whittled the deficit down a little, but an emphatic dunk from junior forward
Kalu Uga (Hyde Park, Mass.) with less than a second on the clock sent the Anchormen to the locker room at halftime up by six, 38-32.
Â
• RIC held the lead for the remainder of the contest, though the Beacons did tie the game late on a few occasions. Â
• Rivera and Kourouma added double-digit rebounds to give them double-doubles on the day.
Â
• UMB senior forward
Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) had a great day with 18 points, 16 rebounds, four steals and four blocks.
