HOW IT HAPPENED

• History repeated itself again with RIC getting a run to answer back in the top of the third. This time, Santerre drove in the tying run with a double of his own.

• In the bottom of the frame, Southwestern sophomore catcher James Vaquero (Houston, Texas) flew out to center field, driving in the go-ahead run via a sacrifice fly. The Pirates led, 2-1, after three innings.

• Southwestern scored what proved to be the game-winning run via another a sacrifice fly, this time off of the bat of freshman second baseman Tres Organ (Houston, Texas) in the fourth inning.

• It took until the eighth inning for another run to score, this time the Anchormen took advantage of a deep fly ball from junior third baseman Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) that allowed Santerre to trot home on the sacrifice fly. Pirates led, 3-2, after eight innings.

• The Anchormen went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth inning and the Pirates hung on to win the second game of the series.

• Santerre went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two more swiped bags. He is up to six stolen bases in the team's first two games.

• SWU senior first baseman Trent Raschke (Gavelston, Texas.) scored two of the Pirates' three runs on the afternoon.
