Cameron Santerre (Bristol, R.I.) caused more havoc on the base paths as the Rhode Island College baseball team was defeated by Southwestern University, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Pirates scored the first run of the game for the second consecutive day when senior shortstop
Landon Durdin (Willis, Texas) doubled in a run in the second inning.

• History repeated itself again with RIC getting a run to answer back in the top of the third. This time, Santerre drove in the tying run with a double of his own.

• In the bottom of the frame, Southwestern sophomore catcher
James Vaquero (Houston, Texas) flew out to center field, driving in the go-ahead run via a sacrifice fly. The Pirates led, 2-1, after three innings. Â

• Southwestern scored what proved to be the game-winning run via another a sacrifice fly, this time off of the bat of freshman second baseman
Tres Organ (Houston, Texas) in the fourth inning.

• It took until the eighth inning for another run to score, this time the Anchormen took advantage of a deep fly ball from junior third baseman
Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) that allowed Santerre to trot home on the sacrifice fly. Pirates led, 3-2, after eight innings.

• The Anchormen went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth inning and the Pirates hung on to win the second game of the series.

• Santerre went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two more swiped bags. He is up to six stolen bases in the team's first two games.

Jason Grzysiewicz (Killingly, Conn.) pitched four scoreless innings out of the bullpen in his collegiate debut.

Gregory Ferguson (Magnolia, Texas) earned the win (2-0), going 7.1 innings with nine strikeouts. Sophomore pitcher
Ryan Corbett (Austin, Texas) earned the save in 1.2 innings of work.
