Shaun Gamelin Breaks RIC Career Strikeout Record in, 14-0, Shutout Win vs. Castleton

Providence, R.I.—Senior pitcher Shaun Gamelin (West Kingston, R.I.) struck out 12 batters and broke the all-time Rhode Island College career strikeout record as the Anchormen took game one, 14-0 (7 innings), of a Little East doubleheader from Castleton at Pontarelli Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Gamelin hurled a complete game three-hitter to pick up his fifth win (5-1) of the season. He struck out 12, which brought his career total to 212 and surpassed Gary Levesque's (2008-11) previous high mark (207) by five.
 
• The Anchormen capitalized on six Spartan errors on the day.
 
• Junior third baseman Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a double, one triple and an RBI. Classmate designated hitter Cole Podedworny (Wakefield, R.I.) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and three RBI.
 
• Castleton sophomore starter Adam Winchell (Fort Ann, N.Y.) took the loss (0-1).
