Collegeville, Pa.—Junior 125 lbs. Fred Luchs (Belford, N.J.) went 3-0 with two pins and a decision as Rhode Island College went 2-2 at Ursinus's Manganaro Duals on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE HIGHLIGHTS:
• Head Coach Jay Jones on the day's results: "I am very proud of our guys coming back from break and taking on some of the nation's best in Pennsylvania this weekend. We have a lot to work on and we are seeing a lot of positive steps being taken."
 
• RIC opened up with a 24-21 win vs. Ursinus' "Black" team. After building an early, 12-0, lead, the match was tied heading into the final bout. Junior 285 lbs. Edison Guarcas (Providence, R.I.) secured a 6-3 decision to clinch the victory.
 
• Messiah downed the Anchormen, 35-6, in the club's next match. Luchs and junior 133 lbs. Kwesi Amoa (Central Islip, N.Y.) each picked up wins by decision in the setback.
 
• The Anchormen battled fifth-ranked Alvernia to a 32-21 loss. Sophomore Wil Hunt (Providence, R.I.) was pinned by the No. 1-ranked wrestler in the nation, Matt Lackman (Wernersville, Pa.). Lackman is the brother of RIC's two-time National Champion, Nathan Lackman, who graduated last year.
 
• RIC had three wrestlers win by fall vs. the Wolves as Luchs, freshman 197 lbs. Anthony Fernandez (Nashua, N.H.) and Guarcas all notched pins.
 
• Rhode Island College closed out the day with a 32-17 win over York. With RIC leading by six, 23-17, and two matches to go, a Fernandez decision clinched the victory. Luchs, freshman 141 lbs. Owen Roche (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior 285 lbs. Michael Alfonso (Garfield, N.J.) each had pins in the contest.
 
• Amoa went 3-0 with three decisions. Guarcas went 2-0 with a pin and a decision.
