Matthew Kelly (Katonah, N.Y.) went 3-0 to reach the semifinals of the 184 lbs. weight class during the first day competition at the 2024 NCAA Div. III Northeast Region Championships, hosted by WPI on Saturday afternoon.

• Rhode Island College is currently in 11
th place (20 teams) with a team score of 41.5. Johnson and Wales is in first place with a team score of 113.0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen have wrestlers alive in three weight classes following the first day of competition. The trio will be back on the mat on Sunday morning.

• Kelly earned three wins with a technical fall, pin and a major decision to reach the semifinals and assure himself of All-Region honors.

• Junior 125 lbs.
Fred Luchs (Belford, N.J.) is 2-1 with a pair of technical fall wins. He is currently in the consolation round.

Edison Guarcas (Providence, R.I.) is 2-1 with a pin and a technical fall. He is currently in the consolation round.

Michael Pestana (North Bergen, N.J.) went 2-2 with a decision and a pin. Classmate 165 lbs.
Christopher McCarthy (Middletown, N.J.) went 2-2 with a decision and a technical fall.
