Danbury, Conn.--Junior midfielder Hannah Rezendes (Bristol, R.I.) scored on a penalty kick as No. 5 Rhode Island College fell at No. 4 Western Connecticut, 4-1, in first round action of the 2025 Little East Women's Soccer Championship played at The Westside Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Wolves struck right off the bat with a goal in the second minute.
 
• WestConn outshot the Anchorwomen, 10-2, in the first half and held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
 
• Seven minutes into the second period, the hosts picked up some insurance and would go ahead by a pair.
 
• WestConn scored its third goal in the 71st minute, before Rezendes answered with a penalty kick shortly thereafter.

• Freshman goalkeeper Oceanna Orlandi (East Greenwich, R.I.) made nine saves in the loss (7-7-1).
