Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) went a combined 5-for-9 and hit for the cycle in game two as Rhode Island College dropped a pair of games vs. Southern Maine (12-2, 13-12) in the Little East opener for both clubs at Pontarelli Field on Saturday afternoon.

GAME ONE
• The Anchormen were shut down in the first game against the Huskies as a three-run sixth inning pushed the visitors out in front.

• Solid pitching from Southern Maine allowed only a pair of runs as Rivera notched one of the two RBI in the game for the Anchormen.

Parker Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

GAME TWO
• RIC was all over USM's pitching in game two as Rivera hit for the cycle for the first time in his career and Camelo went 4-for-6 with a pair of RBI.

• The Anchormen could see the finish line as a three-run blast by senior catcher
Lucas Pierce (Chepachet, R.I.) in the bottom of the eighth put RIC up by three, 12-9, but a four-run top of the ninth from the visitors put the hosts down a run heading into their final at-bat.

• RIC loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth with two down, but Southern Maine escaped with the win.
• Senior reliever
Liam Dailey (Franklin, Mass.) was dealt the loss (0-2).
