Brie Macaruso Posts Hat Trick in, 17-3, Loss at Keene State

Keene, N.H.--Freshman midfielder Brie Macaruso (Ashaway, R.I.) buried three goals and picked up a pair of ground balls as Rhode Island College fell at Keene State, 17-3,  in Little East women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Macaruso was the first scorer on the board in the opening period at the 12:52 mark, however, the Owls rattled off four straight to head into the next frame up three, 4-1.
 
• The Anchorwomen were unable to stop Keene State's momentum as the hosts would score another four until Macaruso netted her second off an assist by freshman midfielder Jaina Yekelchik (North Scituate, R.I.) with 3:30 left until halftime.
 
• A free position shot with just over three to play in period three by Macaruso would prove to be the team's third and final goal
 
• The Owls shut out the Anchorwomen in the last frame as RIC falls victim to a fourth consecutive loss.
 
• Junior attacker Claire Greene (Storrs, Conn.) led the team with five draw controls.

• Sophomore goalkeeper Giana Franco (Salem, Conn.) made seven saves in the loss (1-8).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at home vs. Southern Maine on Wednesday, April 23 (4 p.m.).
