Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.) 2-for-5 with a grand slam in the bottom of ninth as Rhode Island College fell, 12-9 (10 innings), vs. St. Joseph at Pontarelli Field on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bluejays quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a pair of doubles and a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

• Sophomore second baseman
Parker Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) recorded an RBI for the first Anchorman run as he grounded out to short, which brought in sophomore left fielder
Jacob Moniz (Dartmouth, Mass.), in the bottom of the third.

• Senior first baseman
Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) singled to left center and brought in another run as the hosts brought the game to within one, 3-2, in the fifth.

• USJ put up a five-run sixth inning to break the game open.

• RIC got one back in the sixth, but the Blue Jays increased their lead back to six, 9-3, in the seventh frame off another sacrifice fly.

• Saint Joseph was poised to close out the Anchormen in the bottom of the ninth. Camelo scored on a wild pitch and USJ walked the bases loaded for McElroy with one away. He blasted his first homer of the year over the left field fence to make it a one-run, 9-8, game.

• With two away and a runner on first, junior pinch hitter
Daniel Cascio (East Hampton, Conn.) tied the game with a triple to right center field.

• The visitors quickly regained the advantage with a two-run homer and an RBI single in the top of the 10
th.
