Western Connecticut (8-19, 1-9 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• Senior first baseman Daniel Trzepacz (Mont, Vernon, N.H.) tripled in the first inning as the Anchormen quickly plated a pair of runs. Pierce brought in another run with a single to left field as RIC quickly led, 3-0, after six outs.

• Trzepacz and fifth-year third baseman Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) combined for a pair of RBI in the second frame and a throwing error by the Wolves gave the Anchormen a 6-0 advantage.

• WestConn would get their lone run in the third, but Pierce answered with a two-run blast in the fourth to kickstart a four-run inning from the hosts.

• Fifth-year right fielder Justin Wardwell (Westport, Mass.) doubled in a run as part of a two-run fifth inning and RIC capped its offensive output by scoring on a wild pitch in the sixth as RIC ended the game in the seventh due to the 10-run rule.

• Pierce went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBI and a homer.

• Fifth-year pitcher Samuel Gray (Rockland, Mass.) earned the win (2-4) in a complete game effort with six strikeouts.

GAME TWO
• Fifth-year shortstop Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) knocked in one with a sacrifice fly and the Anchormen scored two on a pair dropped fly balls to go up, 3-0, in the first.

• The Anchormen bats refused to quit as junior left fielder Daniel Cascio (East Hampton, Conn.) started a four-run fifth inning with an RBI single.

• Junior center fielder Jeren Pimentel (Boston, Mass.) would go on to score off a wild pitch and brought in another run during the sixth frame as he singled to left field to give RIC a nine-run, 10-1, advantage.

• RIC was poised to end the game in seven with a 13-1 advantage, but the Wolves plated three in the home half of the seventh to extend the contest.

• Trzepacz singled in a run in the top of the eighth to increase the lead back to 10, 14-4, and sophomore reliever Jake Foster (Lincoln, R.I.) slammed the door in the bottom of the frame to end the game early once again.

• The twinbill sweep marks the first time the Anchormen have won back-to-back games since their spring trip to South Carolina in March.

• The 27 total runs scored are the most RIC has scored in a twinbill since plating 28 in a DH sweep over Plymouth State on April 27, 2024.

• Pimentel went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

• Sophomore reliever Stephen Sullivan (Acton, Mass.) grabbed the win (2-2).
