Abby Wager (Mansfield, Mass.) recorded a career-high 29 points to pair with 10 rebounds as Rhode Island College upset No. 25 Southern Maine, 70-62, at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• A pair of threes from sophomore guard
Jaina Yekelchik (North Scituate, R.I.) in the first 10 minutes gave the Anchorwomen the lead, 15-13, heading into the second quarter.

• The frontrunners in the LEC took the lead briefly, but it was taken right back by the hosts as junior guard
Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) canned a triple to lead the hosts into halftime ahead by a bucket, 32-30.

• The second half was dominated by the Anchorwomen, especially Wager as she closed out the third frame with five straight points to give RIC a, 49-44, lead with 10 minutes remaining.

• Wager finished it off with nine points in the final frame to put the hosts in the driver's seat for the rest of the game.Â

• Yekelchik shot 56 percent from the floor and finished with 17 points, while Schuermann ended with 11 points and seven boards.Â

• The win marks the sixth consecutive win for the Anchorwomen.

• The loss was the first league setback for the visitors, who came into tonight's action with an 11-0 Little East mark and a 16-game winning streak.
