Boston, Mass.--Senior Haley Oliver (Coventry, R.I.) broke the RIC program record in the mile as the Rhode Island College women's track and field team competed at UMass Lowell's Riverhawk Invitational, held at the Track at New Balance on Friday.
 
THE BASICS
• It was an individual meet with no team scoring and featured mostly Div. I and Div. II competition.
 
THE TOP PERFORMERS
• Oliver finished eighth in the mile (5:02.21) and broke her own program record.
 
• Sophomore Bendu Kamara (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished seventh in the 400m open (1:02.81; personal best), 26th in the 200m open (26.79; personal best) and 57th in the 60m preliminaries (8.36).
 
• Freshman Naibel Noriega (Providence, R.I.) finished ninth in the 200m open (26.18; personal best), 11th in the 400m invite (58.56; personal best) and 38th in the 60m preliminaries (8.18).
 
• Freshman Zoe Matos (Wakefield, R.I.) tied for 18th in the high jump (1.50m; season best).
 
• Freshman Shanna Correia (West Warwick, R.I.) tied for 18th in the high jump (1.50m; season best) and finished 22nd in the triple jump (9.56m).
 
THE REST OF THE FIELD
• Freshman Maire Scanlon (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished fifth in the long jump open (4.94m) and 66th in the 60m (8.53).
 
• Sophomore Funmilayo Mclin (Providence, R.I.) finished eighth in the weight throw open (12.52m).
 
• Junior Prudence Chikie-Okeke (North Smithfield, R.I.) finished 14th in the shot open (9.71m).
 
• Sophomore Quiana Pezza (Cranston, R.I.) finished 18th in the triple jump invite (10.31m), 22nd in the long jump invite (4.88m), 36th in the 200m invite (27.75) and 49th in the 60m preliminaries (8.28). 
 
• Junior Lexie Zakrzewski (Taunton, Mass.) finished 19th in the 400m open (1:05.03) and 50th in the 200m open (28.12).
 
• Freshman Stephanie Sican Velez (Providence, R.I.) finished 22nd in the 400m open (1:05.98).
 
• Freshman Aaliyah Barbour-Chamble (Providence, R.I.) finished 32nd in the 400m invite (1:02.16).
 
• Sophomore Grace Lane (North Smithfield, R.I.) finished 49th in the 800m (2:34.04).
 
• Freshman Kathryn Patalano (Riverside, R.I.) finished 61st in the 800m (2:41.43).
 
• Freshman Nizari Zayas (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished 74th in the 800m (2:59.91).
 
• Junior Shirley Portillo (North Providence, R.I.) finished 72nd in the 800m (2:55.58).
