CJ Almagno (North Providence, R.I.) went 3-for-5 with a home run, four walks and three runs scored as Rhode Island College swept a Little East doubleheader vs. UMass Boston at Pontarelli Field on Saturday afternoon.

GAME ONE
• Almagno led off the second inning for RIC and blasted a solo homer to right field.

Brady Zadora (Dayville, Conn.) and junior center fielder
Eric Wilson (Middletown, Conn.) hit back-to-back RBI singles to put the lead at three for the Anchormen.

• Junior second baseman
Aiden Bolwell (Chepachet, R.I.) notched an RBI sacrifice flyout to get the fourth in the second stanza for RIC, 4-0.

• Stellar pitching got the Anchormen out of several bases-loaded jams in the win.
• Sophomore
Ben Nowinski (Barrington, R.I.) hurled five innings, allowed just one run on five hits to go along with four strikeouts to earn his first win of the year (1-3).

• Almagno went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk.

GAME TWO
• Three runs in the first two innings from the visitors put them ahead, 3-0.

• The hosts countered thanks to an RBI walk from Almagno and an RBI sacrifice fly by senior designated hitter
Sean Gallagher (Warwick, R.I.) to pull the hosts within a run, 3-2.

• Two more runs from the visitors in the fourth didn't startle the Anchormen one bit as they fought off the deficit and got a two-run double from Gallagher to take the lead, 7-5, in the home half of the frame.

• Freshman third baseman
Finn Boyle (Washington, D.C.) notched his first collegiate homer in the fifth to make it, 8-5, and brought in a run the next inning to increase RIC's advantage to five runs, 10-5.

• The Beacons tried to fight back, but an insurance run, a solo clobber from Gallagher, helped RIC secure the important conference sweep.
• Junior pitchers
Alexander Iannuccilli (Cumberland, R.I.) andÂ
Jake Foster (Lincoln, R.I.) paired up as Iannuccilli got the save and Foster earned the win with a career-high eight strikeouts.

• Gallagher went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer and four RBI. Boyle went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a homer and a pair of RBI.
