Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College has named Gene St. Pierre as its head men's golf coach. It is St. Pierre's second stint as RIC's head men's golf coach.
"I am so excited to return to my alma mater as the head men's golf coach," St. Pierre said. "I enjoyed my previous stints with both the men's and women's programs and am looking forward to getting back on the course with the team this fall."
He previously served a three-year stint as the Anchormen's boss from 2018-21.
RIC finished third at the Little East Invitational in 2020-21. St. Pierre guided the Anchormen to a seventh place finish at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship and the Anchormen tied for 18th at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship in 2019-20.
In his first season with the program, St. Pierre led RIC to a seventh place finish at the GNAC Championship and the Anchormen finished 21st at the NEIGA Championship.
Prior to taking the men's head coach's position, St. Pierre spent the three previous seasons as the head women's golf coach at RIC. In 2017-18, St. Pierre led the Anchorwomen to a third place finish at the NEIGA Championship with a pair of All-New England honorees. The Anchorwomen also registered a seventh place finish at the Empire Eight Championship.
During his tenure as an assistant coach with the men's golf program, Rhode Island College won four consecutive GNAC Championships (2011-14) and made four straight trips to the NCAA Div. III National Championships (2012-15).
He retired in 2021 after 15 years as RIC's college photographer. St. Pierre still works with the college's communications department as a photographer on a part-time basis.
