Tashjian and Ramos Earn Weekly Little East Men's Soccer Awards

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College sophomore goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, RI) and freshman midfielder Brandon Ramos (Boston, MA) were recognized by the Little East for their respective performances at the Roger Williams Invitational on Sept. 1-2.

Tashjian was named the Little East Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week. He made three saves as RIC shut out Colby-Sawyer, 2-0, on Sept. 1. Tashjian followed that up with a nine-save performance in a 2-1 loss to Roger Williams on Sept. 2. For the season, he has played in two games, starting both of them. He is 1-1 with 12 saves, a 1.00 goals-against average and a .857 save percentage.

Ramos was named the Little East Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. Ramos scored an insurance goal in the club’s, 2-0, victory over Colby-Sawyer on Sept. 1. He netted RIC’s only goal in a 2-1 loss to Roger Williams on Sept. 2. For the season, he has played in two games, starting one of them, and has two goals for four points.

Head Coach John Mello’s team is 1-1 on the season. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Worcester State on Wednesday, Sept. 5 (6 p.m.).
