Providence, R.I.—Head Coach Barry Fontaine’s (Career Record: 1-14) team finished the 2018-19 season with an 0-7 overall record.

The Anchorwomen finished seventh (seven teams) with a team score of 48.0 at the 2019 Little East Swimming and Diving Championship.

Senior Madison Lane (Barrington, RI) finished seventh in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:20.91) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:29.69), placed 11th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:54.94) and registered a 16th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:36.01) at the LEC Championship on Feb. 9.

She notched a second place finish in both the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.30) and the 500-yard freestyle (7:21.40) and finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:46.07) at Westfield State on Jan. 26.

Lane finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:41.35), 200-yard freestyle relay (2:03.37) and swam the lead leg of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:08.47) vs. Western Connecticut on Jan. 17. She was second in both the 50-yard backstroke (37.74) and 500-yard freestyle (7:16.07).

She registered a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (14:52.81) and swam the lead leg of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.08) at Clark on Jan. 12.

Lane finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (6:53.70), second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (14:15.01) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (33.11) at Plymouth State on Dec. 1.

She swam the third leg of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:08.47) and finished second in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:34.75) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:55.04) vs. Western New England on Nov. 16.

Lane swam the third leg of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:01.95) and finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:23.46), 200-yard freestyle (2:44.59) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:59.52) at Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 10.

She swam the lead leg of the 11th place 200-yard medley relay (2:13.26) and recorded a 19th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (6:49.51) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 3. Lane was also 28th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:23.39), 29th in the 50-yard backstroke (37.43) and 53rd in the 50-yard freestyle (32.86).

Lane finished fifth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.85), 24th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:31.48), 30th in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:23.75) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:48.65) and 36th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:15.52) at the USJ Invitational on Oct. 26.

She finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:24.48) and second in both the 50-yard backstroke (38.82) and 200-yard medley (2:16.34) at University of Saint Joseph on Oct. 20.

As a junior in 2017-18, Lane finished 19th in the 400-yd freestyle relay (4:19.00) and 20th in both the 200-yd freestyle relay (2:00.19) and the 200-yd medley relay (2:18.91) at the NEISDA Championship on Feb. 15-18.

Lane finished sixth (4:32.82) in the 400-yd freestyle relay, seventh in the 200-yd medley IM (2:13.96), 11th (23:08.82) in the 1,650-yd freestyle and 16th (6:32.40) in the 500-yd freestyle at the Little East Championship on Feb. 3.

Lane finished second in the 500-yd freestyle (6:50.74), third in both the 200-yd freestyle (2:39.75) and the 200-yd medley relay (2:22.48) and fifth in the 100-yd freestyle (1:11.42) vs. Westfield State on Jan. 28.

Lane was first in both the 500-yd freestyle (6:58.46) and the 200-yd freestyle relay (1:57.08), third in the 1,650-yd freestyle (23:53.93) and fourth in the 100-yd backstroke (1:27.01) vs. Western New England on Jan. 27.

She finished first in the 200-yd freestyle relay (2:01.80), second in both the 1,000-yd freestyle (14:02.23) and the 100-yd freestyle (1:10.49) and third in the 500-yd freestyle (7:24.22) vs. Western Connecticut on Jan. 19.

She placed first in both the 1,000-yd freestyle (14:11.40) and the 500-yd freestyle (6:46.63), third in the 200-yd freestyle relay (2:21.29) and sixth in the 50-yd freestyle (32.52) vs. Husson and Maine Maritime on Jan. 12.

She finished first in both the 1,000-yd freestyle (13:55.31) and the 200-yd freestyle relay (2:09.77), was second in both 100-yd freestyle (1:11.69) and the 500-yd freestyle (6:46.12) vs. Plymouth State on Dec. 2.

She finished first in both the 500-yd freestyle (6:36.11) and the 200-yd freestyle relay (2:05.18), second in the 400-yd medley relay (5:16.78) and fourth in the 200-yd freestyle (2:32.99) vs. Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 11.

She notched a 13th place finish in the 500-yd freestyle (6:51.82) and finished in 15th place in the mixed 1,650-yd freestyle (23:42.25) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 4. She also recorded a 33rd place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (31.91). Lane swam the lead leg of the 200-yd freestyle relay (2:23.65) that finished in 17th place.

She finished eighth in the 200-yd freestyle relay (2:20.57), 32nd in the 100-yd freestyle (1:12.89), 34th in the 100-yd breaststroke (1:53.17), 37th in the 100-yd IM (1:32.02) and 38th in the 100-yd backstroke (1:27.98) at the Blue Jay Pentathlon on Oct. 27.

Lane finished first in the 500-yd freestyle (6:55.68), second in both the 200-yd medley relay (2:19.95) and the 100-yd IM (1:32.32) and third in the 50-yd backstroke (36.87) vs. Saint Joseph on Oct. 21.

As a sophomore in 2016-17, Lane finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:15.54), 14th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.36), 15th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.99; season-best) and 27th in the 50-yard freestyle (29.88; season-best) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 7. She also placed ninth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.67) and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:58.41) at the same meet. Lane placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (30.38), the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.21), the 200-yard medley relay (2:11.05) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:18.98) against St. Joseph on Oct. 23. She finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:24.34) and third in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:56.92) and the 200-yard medley relay (2:12.89) at the Michael Arsenault Relays on Oct. 15.

As a freshman in 2015-16, Lane finished third in both the 50-yard backstroke (36.41) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.40), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard medley (2:06.03) and 200-yard freestyle relays (1:58.83) at Western Connecticut on Jan. 24. She finished first in both the 50-yard backstroke (34.90) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.12), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard medley (2:07.02) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.44) relays, versus Husson on Jan. 15. Lane finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:45.30; season-best) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:20.56; season-best), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:09.69) and the second place 200-yard medley relay (2:10.92) vs. Plymouth State on Dec. 4. She finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:20.75) and second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.22) at Western New England on Nov. 20.

Lane finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:14.22; season-best) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.46), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.54) and the third place 400-yard medley relay (4:52.35), at Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 14. She finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:15.54), 14th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.36), 15th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.99), 27th in the 50-yard freestyle (29.88; season-best), while also competing as a member of the ninth place 200-yard medley relay (2:13.67) and the sixth place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:58.41), at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 7.

Lane finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.88; season-best), 17th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.97) and 25th in the 100-yard breast (1:35.68; season-best), while also competing as a member of the fifth place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:06.22) and the sixth place 200-yard medley relay (2:30.16), at the Blue Jay Pentathlon on Oct. 30. She finished second in the 50-yard backstroke (34.48; season-best) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.52; season-best), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard medley relay (2:12.12) and the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.12), at the University of St. Joseph (CT) on Oct. 24.

She is an art education major and a 2015 graduate of Barrington High School.

Sophomore Emily Butterfield (Cranston, RI) finished 18th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.89) at the LEC Championship on Feb. 9. Butterfield swam the second leg of the seventh place 200-yard medley relay (2:20.91), finished 28th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:14.13) and was 29th in the 50-yard freestyle (31.45).

Butterfield finished first in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.82) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:02.54), second in the 100-yard IM (1:29.62) and third in the 50-yard breaststroke (40:35) at Westfield State on Jan. 26.

She finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:03.37), third in the 50-yard breaststroke (39.31) and fourth in both the 50-yard freestyle (31.45) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:12.39) vs. Western Connecticut on Jan. 17.

Butterfield finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.08), second in both the 100-yard freestyle (1:11.90) and the 50-yard freestyle (36.13) and third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:34.68) at Clark University on Jan. 12.

She won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:36.03), finished second in both the 50-yard breaststroke (41.95) and the 400-yard medley relay (5:15.68) and finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:13.91) at Plymouth State on Dec. 1.

Butterfield finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:08.47), second in both the 50-yard breaststroke (41.65) and the 100-yard IM (1:31.05) and third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:15.45) vs. Western New England on Nov. 16.

She finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:01.95), second in both the 50-yard freestyle (32.75) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:13.31) and third 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.43) at Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 10.

Butterfield finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:44.79), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.56), 25th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:33.73), 28th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:46.50), 33rd in the 100-yard freestyle (1:13.61) and 35th in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:29.56) and the 100-yard IM (1:29.89) at the USJ Invitational on Oct. 26.

She finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:16.34), third in the 50-yard breaststroke (41.95), fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (32.96) and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:35.75) at University of Saint Joseph on Oct. 20.

Freshman Wenona Alexander (Warwick, RI) finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.46), seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:29.69) and ninth in both the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.18) and the 400-yard IM (5:22.17) at the LEC Championship on Feb. 9.

Alexander finished first in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:02.54) and the 50-yard butterfly (31.38) and third in both the 200-yard IM (2:34.59) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:16.39) at Westfield State on Jan. 26.

She finished first in the 50-yard butterfly (30.56), 200-yard IM (2:33.04) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:19.53) vs. Western Connecticut on Jan. 17.

Alexander notched a first place finish in the 100-yard IM (1:10.03), and was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.38), the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.65) and the 400-yard medley relay (5:15.68) at Plymouth State on Dec. 1.

She placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.11), 50-yard freestyle (27.73), 200-yard freestyle relay (2:01.95) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:54.97) at Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 10.

Alexander placed seventh in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.70) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.89) and swam the third leg of the 11th place 200-yard medley relay squad (2:13.26) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 3.

Alexander finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:44.79), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.56), the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.54) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.88), fifth in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.17) and the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.85) and sixth in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.05) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:10.99) at the USJ Invitational on Oct. 26.

Alexander finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (59.71), 50-yard butterfly (30.34) and the 200-yard IM (2:35.40) and second as part of the 200-yard medley (2:16.34) at University of Saint Joseph on Oct. 20.

She was named the Little East Rookie Swimmer of the Week once on the season.

Freshman Mary McBride (Rumford, RI) finished seventh in both the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:29.69) and the 200-yard medley relay (2:20.91), 12th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:59.23) and 22nd in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.45) at the LEC Championship on Feb. 9.

She finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.85), the 500-yard freestyle (6:57.23) and 200-yard freestyle relay (2:02.54) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (30.61) at Westfield State on Jan. 26.

McBride finished first in both the 500-yard freestyle (6:57.35) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:03.37), second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.65) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (33.57) vs. Western Connecticut on Jan. 17.

She finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (7:22.69) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.08), second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:37.98) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:40.84) at Clark University on Jan. 12.

McBride finished first in the 50-yard butterfly (40.58), second in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:29.27) and the 400-yard medley relay (5:15.68) and third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:13.80) at Plymouth State on Dec. 1.

McBride finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:08.47) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (29.87), 50-yard breaststroke (41.81) and the 500-yard freestyle (7:17.91) vs. Western New England on Nov. 16.

She recorded a first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.92), second in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:30.48) and the 500-yard freestyle (7:17.58) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:39.70) at Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 10.

McBride finished 11th in the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.26) and 29th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:07.02) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 3.

She finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:44.79), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.56), fifth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.85), 27th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:44.31), 30th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:11.63) and 34th in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:29.24) and the 100-yard IM (1:27.28) at USJ Invitational on Oct. 26.

Freshman Athena Sampalis (West Greenwich, RI) was named the team MVP. Sampalis finished seventh in both 200-yard medley relay (2:20.91) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:29.69), 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:56.63) and 18th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.51) at the LEC Championship on Feb. 9.

She finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:21.25), 100-yard IM (1:17.78) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:02.54) and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (30.60) at Westfield on Jan. 26.

Sampalis finished first in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.62) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:03.37), second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:22.40) and fifth in the 50-yard breaststroke (41.04) vs. Western Connecticut on Jan. 17.

Sampalis finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.08) and second in the 200-yard IM (2:57.60), 100-yard backstroke (1:20.41) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.11) at Clark University on Jan. 12.

She finished first in the 50-yard backstroke (34.83) and second in both the 50-yard freestyle (29.69) and 400-yard medley relay (5:15.68) at Plymouth State on Dec. 1.

Sampalis took first in the 50-yard freestyle (28.87), the 100-yard IM (1:17.12) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:08.47) and was second in the 50-yard backstroke (35.69) vs. Western New England on Nov. 16.

She finished first in both the 200-yard breaststroke (3:01.59) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:01.95), second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.68) and was third in the 200-yard IM (2:52.28) at Eastern Connecticut on Nov. 10.

Sampalis finished ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.57), 11th in the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.26), 12th in the 50-yard breaststroke (36.52), 22nd in the 100-yard IM (1:13.77) and 27th in the 50-yard freestyle (29.10) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 3.

She finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:44.79), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.56), fifth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.85), ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.32), 16th  in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.71), 23rd in the 100-yard individual medley (1:20.73) and 25th  in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:20.04) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:33.37) at the USJ Invitational on Oct. 26.

Sampalis finished second in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:38.81) and the 200-yard medley (2:16.34) and third in both the 50-yard freestyle (32.80) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.05) at University of Saint Joseph on Oct. 20.

She was named the Little East Rookie Swimmer of the Week once on the season.
