Wenona Alexander Named LEC Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College freshman Wenona Alexander (Warwick, RI) was named the Little East Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week for her performance in the Anchorwomen's, 116-60, loss at the University of Saint Joseph on Oct. 20.

Alexander finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (59.71), 50-yard butterfly (30.34) and the 200-yard IM (2:35.40). Those times automatically qualified her in all three events for the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at MIT in February. She also finished second as part of the 200-yard medley (2:16.34).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jay Pentathlon on Friday, October 26 (5 p.m.).
