Women's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight League Match

Providence, R.I.—Sophomore Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, MA) clinched an 8-1 win for the Rhode Island College women's tennis team vs. UMass Boston in Little East action played at the RIC Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.

• Sophomore Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) and classmate Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, RI) bested the Beacon duo of freshmen Chloe Gates (Plymouth, MA) and Meaghan Moriarty (Norton, MA), 8-0, at No. 2 doubles.

• RIC senior Katherine Braganca (Pawtucket, RI) and sophomore Laurel Ten Eyck (Warwick, RI) secured an 8-2 win over UMB juniors Katie Gauthier (West Boylston, MA) and Valeria Tueme (Bonney Lake, WA) at No. 1 doubles.

• Sophomore Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, RI) and Serena Bobola (Cranston, RI) posted an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles over UMB freshman Leah Bosco (Greenfield, MA) and senior Baila Mir (Somerset, MA).

• Raskob won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) at No. 4 singles before Vittori bested Tueme (6-0, 6-2) at No. 2 singles to clinch the win.

• Bobola won (6-1, 6-1) at No. 3 singles against Moriarty and Ten Eyck picked up a win (6-0, 6-1) at No. 5 singles vs. Mir.

• Freshman Clara Siegmund (Pomfret, CT) won (6-1, 6-0) vs. Abdoo at No. 6 singles. 

• Zangari won the first set, before falling to Gauthier (3-6, 7-5, 10-3) at No. 1 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Curry on Thursday, Oct. 4 (4 p.m.).
