Women's Tennis Cruises Past Wentworth, 9-0

Providence, R.I.—Junior Laurel Ten Eyck (Warwick, RI) won at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles to help lead Rhode Island College past Wentworth, 9-0, at the RIC Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC sophomore Michaela Burr (Westerly, RI) and freshman Jenna Lisi (Cranston, RI) combined to defeat Wentworth junior Ali Sollecito (Taunton, MA) and freshman Morgan Collins (Warwick, RI), 8-0, at No. 1 doubles. 

• RIC juniors Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, RI) and Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, RI) picked up an 8-0 win over Wentworth juniors Cici Deakin (Standish, ME) and Hannah Erickson (Columbia, CT) at No. 3 doubles.

• RIC juniors Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) and Ten Eyck bested the WIT duo of seniors Olivia DeLuca (Dunstable, MA) and Sam McGibbon (Pembroke, MA), 8-2, at No. 2 doubles to complete the doubles sweep.

• Raskob bested Collins (6-1, 6-1) at No. 4 singles and Lisi defeated DeLuca (6-0, 6-1) at No. 2 singles to clinch the win.

• Freshman Sarah Gonick (Kingston, MA) defeated Deacon (6-0, 6-0) to win at No. 6 singles and junior Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, MA) stepped in at No. 5 singles and defeated Erickson (6-0, 6-0). 

• Ten Eyck defeated McGibbon (6-3, 6-1) at No. 3 singles and Burr defeated Sollecito (6-2, 6-3) at No. 1 singles to secure the shutout win.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Curry on Thursday, Sept. 5 (4 p.m.).
