Women's Tennis Picks Up Third Shutout Win of 2019

Newport, R.I.—The Rhode Island College women's tennis team won their fourth consecutive match, and picked up their third shutout of the 2019 campaign, as the Anchorwomen defeated Salve Regina, 9-0, on Monday afternoon.

• Sophomore Casey Burns (Westbrook, CT) and freshman Jenna Lisi (Cranston, RI) defeated the Salve Regina tandem of Lauren Harvey and Makenzie Sadler, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles.

• RIC juniors Laurel Ten Eyck (Warwick, RI) and Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) downed SRU's Casey Farrell and Laura Krick, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles.

• Rhode Island College juniors Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, RI) and Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, RI) defeated Salve's Lily Gorman and Annemarie Haas, 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

• In just her second match of the season, Burns did not lose a game (6-0, 6-0) in a straight set victory over Harvey at No. 1 singles.

• Lisi defeated Sadler (6-4, 6-0) at No. 2 singles.

• Zangari bested SRU's Priscilla Gaspard (6-1, 6-4) at No. 3 singles, while Ten Eyck was credited with a win at No. 4 singles when Farrell retired.

• Raskob defeated Krick (6-2, 6-2) at No. 5 singles and junior Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, MA) won (6-1, 6-4) vs. SRU's Shealyn FitzPatrick at No. 6 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Suffolk on Wednesday, Sept. 11 (3:30 p.m.).
