Women's Tennis Stays Perfect in Little East Play

Bridgewater, Mass.--Rhode Island College improved to 3-0 in Little East Conference play as the Anchorwomen picked up their fifth shutout of the year in a 9-0 victory over Bridgewater State in a match played at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.

• RIC sophomore Casey Burns (Westbrook, CT) and freshman Jenna Lisi (Cranston, RI) picked up an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles vs. BSU freshman Sailor Nordstrom (New Bedford, MA) and senior Emma Mills (Westport, MA) 

• RIC juniors Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) and Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, RI) defeated senior Angelique Gray (Barnstable, MA) and graduate student Rachel Tarantino (Mansfield, MA), 8-1, at No. 2 doubles.

• RIC sophomore Clara Siegmund (Pomfret, CT) and junior Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, RI) defeated BSU junior Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, MA) and sophomore Vanessa Rose (Taunton, MA), 8-3, at No. 3 doubles to put the Anchorwomen up, 3-0.

• Burns defeated Nordstrom (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 singles.

• Raskob defeated Rose (6-1, 6-2) at No. 4 singles to clinch the match.

• Junior Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, MA) defeated Gray (6-1, 7-5) at No. 5 singles. 

• Siegmund defeated Tarantino (6-3, 6-3) at No. 6 singles.

• Zangari defeated Mills (6-4, 6-3) at No. 3 singles. 

• Lisi defeated Sweeney (7-5, 6-4) at No. 2 singles. 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Sept. 24 (3:30 p.m.).
