Paul Adams is in his ninth year as the Coordinator of Fundraising Initiatives and Sponsorships. Adams assists with RIC's fundraising endeavors, focusing on corporate sponsorships, as well as overseeing department events such as the Anchor Club Golf Tournament.
Adams came to RIC after a 29-year career with the Providence Downtown Marriott. He was the Senior Account Director from 1992-2016, where he provided sales and service for youth, collegiate and professional sports organizations during his tenure. Some of Adams' major clients were NFL teams and national media organizations such at CBS sports, NBC sports, ABC sports, ESPN and the NFL Network. He also dealt with various regional colleges and universities.
Adams received the Rhode Island Sports Commission's Sports Champion of the Year Award in 2019, the Marriott's 10 Consecutive Years of Excellence in Sports Marketing Award in 1996 and the organization's Spirit to Serve Award in 1997.
He was the Director of Sales at the Marriott Providence Downtown from 1989-92 where he helped the hotel reach a world-wide ranking of eight for total athletic room rental nights. He was a sales manager at the same hotel from 1986-89.
Prior to his time in the Ocean State, Adams was a Regional Sales Manager at the Innisbrook Resort in Tarpon Springs, Fla. from 1985-86. He was a Sales Manager, then served as the Director of Sales at the Worcester Marriott from 1982-85. Adams was a Sales Manager at the Springfield (IL) Hilton from 1979-81.
Adams earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Providence College in 1971.
