HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One:
• The Anchorwomen jumped on the board early as sophomore catcher
Alexis Boyce (Wolcott, Conn.) launched a two-run homer to give RIC the lead in the top of the first.

• Castleton cut the deficit down to one, 2-1, on an RBI single from junior designated player
Oliva Bowen (Fair Haven, Vt.) in the home half of the second inning.

• Castleton gained the lead, 3-2, in the third inning, scoring on a wild pitch and a fielder's choice.

• The Anchorwomen platted three runs on three hits and two wild pitches to take a 5-3 lead in the fourth frame.

• Castleton gained momentum in the bottom half of the sixth inning with a quick pair of singles and a fielder's choice that pushed across one run climb within a run, 5-4, but RIC sophomore pitcher
Faith Turinese (Plainville, Mass.) came on in relief and shut the door on the Spartans and to record a four-out save to win the game for the Anchorwomen.

• RIC jumped on the board early again as senior first baseman
Amber Wainwright (Taunton, Mass.) drove in freshman designated player
Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

• Castleton was quick to respond as they pushed across five runners across in the home half of the opening frame on four hits, which was highlighted by a junior designated player
Machaila Arjavich (Meriden, Conn.) RBI double.

• RIC punched in four runs in the top of the second with a two-run double from Ashe that scored freshman center fielder
Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) and senior right fielder
Erica Fluskey (Trumbull, Conn.) to cut the Spartan advantage down to one, 5-4.

• RIC struck twice to take the lead in the third frame as sophomore left fielder
Julie Vincent (Norwich, Conn.) doubled to score Schoen and later came around to score on a Katz single to give RIC a 6-5 advantage.

Jamie Boyle (Pownal, Vt.) knotted the score at six apiece with an RBI double in the home half of the fourth.

• Castleton took the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double to left center by Arjavich to put the host's ahead by two, 8-6.

Katie Gallagher (Waxhaw, N.C.) shut down the Anchorwomen in the seventh to clinch the win for the Spartans (3-0).
